But in college, the rule is to penalize a technical foul immediately and then resume at the point of interruption. Why wouldn't you shoot the FT's then resume at the POI, which is the called TO?

The rule is "the ball shall be put BACK IN PLAY at the point of interruption." The TO isn't part of putting the ball back in play.

Try this another way. A1, umm, colorfully comments on your parentage. Before you give the ball to B for the FT, A requests TO. Do you grant it? Are you going to shoot the T before the TO?

FIBA -

NO time out.

Technical foul on bench, two free throws, possession at half way.

FIBA doesn't allow teams to take an extra TO at the cost of a T.

For you more mature refs, didn't the old NF rule also deny the time out but give the T?
