I was coaching a game, our team fouled their player, who was too injured to shoot free throw. the other team put a player on the line, I asked if I didnt get to pick someone to shoot, ref said no. is he right?

second, if the injured player cant shoot FT when can they come back into the game? if ever?

The substitute for the injured player must shoot the free throws. There isnt really any specifics on how long they must sit out. They can play when they are ready, the only exception being a player who loses conciousness (sp?). They cannot return without written permission from a doctor.

Per rule 3, sect.3, art. 4: A player who has been withdrawn or directed to leave the game because of injury, shall not re-enter before the next opportunity to substitute after the clock has been started properly after his/her replacement.

As for the player who shoots the free throws, it will be the substitute. The opposing coach has no say in this matter.
