FIBA Mechanics

Ok, As I have posted before we are switchng to FIBA here starting next month. I have gathered all the information I can find, rules, interps, mechanics manuals. I read and re-read so I am prepared for the season. I was wondering if anyone can direct me to somewhere that shows differences in FIBA mechanics compaired to NCAA/NFHS?

I'm not sure I can help you with the mechanics really, I havn't seen any comparison of mechanics so far. How ever, you can find a comparison regarding rules here: http://www.fiba.com/asp_scripts/downMana.asp?fileID=518
And the fiba 2 and 3 referee manuals here:
2man http://www.fiba.com/asp_scripts/downMana.asp?fileID=325
3man: http://www.fiba.com/asp_scripts/downMana.asp?fileID=326
And if you look at fiba.com you can find several intresting downloads (look in the experts/referee section) including right and wrong questions and a few instructional videos. As well as several articles and stuff. The articles are also under "right and wrong" though, don't ask me why.
Good luck

Thx I have downloaded all of those. Just was wondering if anything else was available. What are some of the major differences you know of?

I know that FIBA uses the "cadillac" positions at lead and trail (same place all the time). Lots of bounce passes for administrating throw ins. ie across the lane on the base line. Is there any difference in administrating Free throws?

Is Fred Horgan still in the FIBA mix?

AIUI, he developed the initial FIBA 3-man mechanics system.

SmokeEater,

Try this link.
http://www.nsbo.ca/ and go to FIBA/CIS Differences

A good resource person in Canada is Paul Deshaies, our National Interpreter. You can contact him through the CABO website (www.cabocanada.org)

I spoke to Paul at the beginning of the summer and he said to hold tight for clinics. The provincial interpreters would get info and they will pass on to us. I am just anxious and don't want to wait.

No kidding. Tell him Skuzer says Hi! He left a msg for me at home - I should phone him back.

I heard he got a provincial assignment last season.

Tell him I said that I taught him everything he knows. (Yes, open for jokes...)

Does he make everyone call him Dr. D, or Toddy D?

Well I know my fiba mechanics quite well now, but I don't know a thing about any other mechanics. Therefore I can't compare them on my own (I have nothing to compare with)
