new terminology

Spoke with a ref buddy last night after his game. He said his partner called every touch foul the entire game. Both teams went into the double bonus both halves. He said his partner must have thought every touch on the skin could result in a devastating injury.

He referred to his partner as a "dermatologist". It seemed an appropriate label to me to describe a ref who calls a foul every time skin is touched.

Do any of you have any other "descriptive nicknames" for certain types of partners?

Is it too disrespectful to label a sort of lackadaisical ref, a Jeff?

We used to say it a lot, but I haven't heard a word of it since he died.

In Israel, we refer to phantom calls as "Edison's", i.e. "invented" calls. A referee who makes a whle lot of these is also called an "Edison" as in "He's an Edison".

How about rookie or newB or God forbid - a RLR -Recreational League Ref

Well, I basically agree. But it also seems like it's in poor taste for Jeff to up and die and take away such a good nickname!

And who else is there around here that has quite the elan of Jeff?
