Seems to me that since you basically told him to his face that he was wrong, at that point what did you have to lose not screwing the team out of their points?

IMO, you should have stuck to your guns...this isn't a do in Rome sort of issue, it's not a mechanic, it isn't a philosophy on advantage/disadvantage you may not like...it's knowingly disregarding a rule.

For all you know he may have been testing you, to see what you'd do.
