Missed Dunk / Snapped Rim
NCAA and NFHS pls...
A5 attempts a dunk and loses the ball just as he's flushing it. His hands hit the rim as the ball goes up on the flange. He does not hang on the rim but the rim does snap just as the ball comes off the flange essentially helping the ball fall in the hole rather than off the rim. It was my judgment that he did not intentionally grab the rim in an effort to snap the ring but rather just as part of the follow thru of the dunk attempt. BI or nothing? |

NCAA 4-5-2
Art. 2. Basket interference also occurs when a movable basket ring is pulled down by a player so that it contacts the ball before the ring returns to its original position. So, 1. Ring displacement doesn't need to be intentional 2. Ball needs to contact the ring before it returns. That's it.

This is basket interference. Rule 4-6-4.
The rule is the same on the NCAA level. I just do not have the rulebook to reference at this time. Peace
