Anyone hear about the trick play recently where a kid, I dont know if this was a throw-in or what, but this kid while on offense got down on all fours and began barking like a dog....the defense is distracted and offense scored.

To me, this feels borderline unsportsmanlike. Does it merit a T on Mr. Doggy or on the coach....or neither.

I hope I dont have to make this decision...although a friend of mine who is a coach is thinking about trying it.

Comments?

Larks,
I'll call a time-out, thinking the player was choking on a bone, or having a seizure. It's just wrong.

That's an old one. It was on America's Funniest Home Videos 10 to 12 years ago. It's unsportsmanlike and it's a T. Tell your coach friend to forget it.

Says who? It's not taunting or threatening physical harm or even showing disrespect to anyone. It's only a distraction, just like every female player in America yelling "ball, ball, ball, ball, ball" in everyone's face.

I would T a guy for standing in a corner and making racial or religious remarks to distract, but how do you know what he's saying in doggie talk? Maybe it's "Gee, you guys sure have nice looking uniforms."

BTW - what's "insportsmanlike", anyhow?

LOL. I'd be laughing too hard to do anything. Maybe I'd take a referee's time-out (to catch my breath) to compose myself before they could score.

Sorry but the u and the I are side by side on my keyboard.

With regards to the play, the interpretation that we received after this situation occurred was that this type of deception had nothing to do with the game and was considered unsportsmanlike.

What if the kid was meowing, or making a noise like a giraffe?

Throaty, gutteral sounds with their blue tongues.
