Just watched a game prior to my game, and one of my fellow callers blew his whistle and came up with a False Double Foul call. Now I know it's in the book and I know I have never called it, and it took everyone in the gym by surprise.
Don't even know if it was adminstered correctly but my question is has any of you ever called one??? |

I bet you've called a false double foul before but perhaps didn't know it.
Examples of False Double Fouls: 1- B1 fouls A1 in the act of shooting. A1 is shooting his second FT when B2 fouls A2. 2- B1 steals the ball from A1 but is called for a foul. Angered, B1 slams the ball to the floor. Tweet! Technical foul on B1. 3- A1 is fouled and makes both FTs. While B1 has the ball for the throw-in, A2 fouls B2. What was the situation in which the FDF was called in the game you saw?

I've had these fouls many times. When I go to report it, I never say, "We have a false double foul." What I do say is, "We have two fouls. White 32 hack. Two shots on this end. Blue 12 Technical unsportsmanlike conduct. Two shots on that end and the ball."

I had a false double foul at camp one year!
(Tyler, you around???) Here's the stich (previously postd at of.com about a year ago)... I'm L table side, offensive post player obtains position on defensive player. Defensive player starts trying to regain good position. Ball is above the 3 point line, right above the semicircle. Of course, T has the ball. The guy with the ball does a dippity-do and undresses his defender. Jacks up a 3. My offensive post player contacts the defender across the chest with his arm, and thrusts his arm down to force the defender to the ground. Tweet and fist. Locate the ball - out of the hands of the shooter. Count it if it goes in. My partner has a tweet - seems like the undressed defender tried to get back in and alter the shot - commiting a blocking foul. ..Mike |

Well its good to be back; had to let work get in the way and I went on out go out of town with NO internet service, anyway catching up.... I do see your point Mr. Basketball ref, when you put false double fouls in that perspective I have called a few but never verbalized it, and besides don't they have seperate penalties?
I know... I'll look it up but I think they do |
