team A had the ball in their frontcourt and a player on team B slapped the ball loose and it headed towards the division line. A team A player ran for it and at the line, with both feet in frontcourt, he started dribbling on the run and the ball hit the floor in backcourt it's 1st bounce and he followed it into backcourt with his feet. I called the BC but the coach and all the fans didn't like it. The thing is, if he had tried to catch it and fumbled it, and then followed it into BC and started dribbling or picked it up, he would have gotten the same call and that would have really raised the roof. Did I do this right?

Yes. The ball had FC status when A1 got to the ball. He took it to the BC.

Tell the coach and fans to boo at A1 for not simply letting the ball take one more bounce and go BC.

Ralph, Easy call....
You made the right call...
The crowd is rarely (NEVER) the right "jury" to judge your call. The only friend you have in the gym is the other guy who wears stripes.
