OK- We had an obvious goaltending call earlier today, but after the player goaltended, he continued through and slapped the backboard. Was it intentional?, we're not sure. So, the three of us conferenced and decided to call the goaltend but not the technical for the backboard slap. Is this right?

Good call, if on the follow thru, as you stated, he hit the board, let it go.

Don't call a 'T' for hitting the backboard unless you know or feel that the player was not playing for the ball and that you think he was intentionally hitting the board to make a possible shot come off the basket.

Many times a player will hit the backboard after making a good block, do not penalize a player for his un-intentional follow thru.
