kudos to Marbury and Wallace

And there's a little back-and-forth between Marbury and LeBron James on this issue:
http://cavaliers.aolsportsblog.com/2...s-the-15-shoe/ James: "Me, being with Nike, we hold our standards high." Marbury: "I'd rather own than be owned." Stay tuned. |

I hope the quality of shoes is on a par with the $150 pair! What a trend this could set! |

It seems pretty obvious marketing has just as much (if not more) of an effect on price than just quality. So don't expect Nike to go down without a fight. |
Outstanding! I think I'll buy a pair.

A double-dog dare, in fact. And we'll need pictures to prove it. |

You can look around there, but I've seen at least one pair of black on black and another that has a very limited amount of white. |
there was a story about these on one of the news magazine shows about a week ago and they compared the quality other than Nike material being leather the actual quality of manufactuer was rule by outsiders to be the same.

As for that extra $100 of quality materials & workmanship...maybe $98 of it goes towards brand profit & marketing. Much of the rest goes to the factory owner then whatever is left goes towards the materials. I don't suppose the actual worker supplying the workmanship even knows he's responsible for a "quality" product. He just keeps cranking them out. |
My son and his friend each have a pair of the sneakers. The basketball sneakers are OK, but do not provide as much support as a pair of adidas or Nikes, IMO. They don't have the thickness of the competitors' more expensive shoes. But for young kids that don't have ankle problems yet, they're fine. I would rate them as similar to the Shaqs put out (I think) by Starter, which run in the $25 - $30 range, and some of the And1 sneakers.
The colors ran in the Knicks uniform color spectrum (white, blue, orange) The casual sneakers are as good as any of the others by the competitors, and well worth the $10. They did have some black sneakers that could conceivably be used as official's shoes, but the size selection was limited, and all shoes were 'D' width, so I can't give a personal review. At these prices, the stock on the selling floor is all that they offer, and there is no sales service to speak of. Steve & Barrys is also a good source of t-shirts, polos and khakis at reasonable prices. |
