I'm a newbie, and I had my 1st scrimmage Saturday. Thought I'd share...

This was at a local HS, and 7 officials showed up. I was 1 of 2 rookies. My 1st whistle--the players couldn't tell if it was a whistle or a squeaking sneaker. A little embarrassing...

What stood out was one of the other officials who was a 20 year vet who has worked state finals. When he wasn't running the court, he was following one of us rooks around giving us advice. Wish I could work a game with someone like that early on, but I doubt he does too much 5th grade...

You never know. Ask him.
