Spotting ball after a non-shooting foul or violation
In years past I remember anything inside the three point line went down to the baseline. That is straight line down. I noticed in the officials manual that that had changed. Am I reading that illustration correctly, and if so, when did it change?

The lane, 1/2 circle above the lane, and a line from the each elbow to the corner of the sideline and endline is the area where it goes down to the baseline. I don't remember that it was ever just inside the 3 pt line, but wasn't officiating until 5 years ago.

It would be a lot simpler if they just took everything inside the 3 point arc to the baseline. It really holds up the game when I have to snap the chalk line from the elbow to the corners.
