Good tournament adaptations

Anybody here done any tournaments that had good rules adaptations to make them run smoothly or to keep things moving? One tournament I did had the following two that I thought were awesome:

1) Two T's in the tournament, and you were done for the tournament. I don't think anybody picked up the first one.

2) If a tie, the first team to score three points in OT wins. So if you get possession, you decide if you play for the win and shoot for 3 right away, or play the chance you'll get a second possession and go for 2. Either way, OT doesn't last long.

Working a big girls MS tournament this weekend.

1. One T on coach & they are DQ'd for tournament
2. Any T is automatic 2 points and the ball for opponent
3. reduced number of time outs
4. 5 minute half time

So far the quality of play has been pretty good - better than some HS games I've worked. Coaches have behaved well for the most part (see #1 above). I get to do both the 7th & 8th grade championship games this afternoon - should be fun.

Had a JH tournament two years ago . . . ONE "T" and you were done for the entire tournament, coach or player, didn't matter.

Of course there are the bad parts too . . . like a boys sub-varsity tournament I did earlier this year where we "could/would" have been almost 90 minutes ahead of schedule at the end of the day had we started the next game as soon as the previous game had finished, but NOPE. We had to sit around for 25-30 minutes waiting for the scheduled start time after each game (I had 4 that day). Very next weekend, at the SAME SITE, girls sub-varsity tournament. We started the next game when the previous game was finished. We were done and out almost 90-minutes earlier than we could/would have been had we waited out the schedule. But that's just me.
