I am a little confused for the exact way to signal how many free throws are awarded for bonus free throws, two free throws, etc.

Fingers. 1, 2, or 3 fingers on 1 hand. 1 finger on each hand for a 1-and-1.

Also, all free throw mechanics should be one handed, with your outside arm. Some may dispute this, but that's the way I was taught and I think it looks better that way.

Which arm is "the outside arm"?

How do you signal 1&1 with one hand?

The arm closest to the division line is the outside arm. I cut it short, one and one is shown on both hands. That's what I get for writing a quick reply without as much thought as I should put in. :)

Yeah, when you say all free-throw mechanics, you are being too vague. Do you mean at the C (trail in two-man) or do you mean at the lead before bouncing the ball? I agree about what you are saying at the C, but I'm with Dan. How do you signal 1&1 with the outside arm?

I've seen guys do this by extending the index finger and the pinkie. Like Steve Dallas' "secret devil sign".

When relaying to my partner(s) I use the 2-hand/2-index finger technique.

When in the slot (3-man)/trail (2-man) I use the each arm extended out from my side/2-index finger technique.

When administering the free throws I use the Steve Dallas "secret devil sign" technique.

Why isn't the arm closest to the end line the outside arm? It's farther away, isn't it?:confused:

Ah, yes. The ol' "bullsh!t" signal. Used that one myself in front of an evaluator once. He was <b>not</b> impressed with my <i>verve</i> and <i>joie de vivre</i>. Told me to stick that signal right up my azz iirc.

Yea, but how long ago was that? Things have changed a lot since then, we're in the Cenozoic Era now!

You signaled two shots with two fingers on one hand, after the first is attempted, do you than signal one shot with one finger?
