United States Flag Code
Patriotic Forum members and United States Military veterans, please don't misunderstand me, I proudly wear the American flag on my official's jersey, I wear it proudly on my laboratory coat, I'm a chemist, at work, and I fly the American flag on all national holidays, as well as every time a soldier, sailor, or marine from Connecticut is killed in Iraq or Afghanastan, however:
"No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations."
This is taken from the United States Flag Code, adopted in 1924. Do our officiating organizations and associations realize that, at least according to this code, we are dishonoring the American flag when we wear it on our uniform ? Also, shouldn't the United States Flag Code be updated so that we can proudly wear the flag, in a respectful manner, on any type of uniform?
