If I'm just doing the "Good luck" quickie I don't ask. But when I have a coach for the very 1st time I usually say "Coach, don't forget your box and let us know about time-outs. Do you have anything for us?" It's has yet to lead me into any traps.
I do not use the coaches' or captains' meetings to "lay the framework for how this game will be called". I do that with my partner(s) in our pre-game.
