What's the call
Ball is in partner's area. A2 and B2 end up on the ground. Partner calls A2 for blocking. A2 is mad and complains about the call. Partner verbally warns A2. Ball, OOB to B.
B2 receives ball from the throw-in at the division line and has a clear line to his basket with A2 in pursuit. B2 goes up in the air for the layup and A2 lowers his shoulder and undercuts B2 from behind. What's the call? |
Have to be there, could be common foul or intentional. Flagrant is unlikely but is a possibility.
|
You can usually look at a player and see what his intent is. The way it sounds the player was coming after his opponent. I would give a Flagrant and toss him
|
Flegrant...
Keep in mind that in some states ( Mine ) when you toss a kid, they loss the next 2 games too. I would call the intentional. Worse case, I ask the coach to remove him for the kid's sake.

At a minimum, an intentional, depending on your feel for the situation, could also have been a flagrant.
|
More than likely, I would give him a flagrant T, because it seems obvious to me that it was his intent to undercut the player. BUT, since I wasn't there, I cannot say FOR SURE that it was his intent to do so. But it would get AT LEAST an intentional from me;). And I'm with BadZebra...
