Unhappy Death of an Official

http://http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/deathsobituaries/story/5A743DC94F9EEDC08625725E001217A0?OpenDocument
Jerry Boeckman was experiencing some difficulties during the 1st half of his JV girls game. He associated this to the flu he had during the holiday. He completed the game. After the game, in the locker room, he had a massive heart attack. His partner and the 3 new officials for the varsity game all witnessed this tragic event.
Read about what he meant to the St. Louis community.

Hits kind of close to home. I can't imagine being the V officials, and going out on the floor after that, especially if they knew him.

Our prayers are with his family.

The varsity officials were given the option to be replaced, but decided to work the game in Jerry's Honor, because that is what they believed he would want them to do.

All of the officials involved have been in our prayers this week including, his JV game partner that went to the hospital to check on him right before he passed on.

Are you freaking kidding me?!?!?! A school has an official die in the dressing room, and they go on with the game anyhow? Unreal!!

Do you remember Marge Schott when John McSherry died? She wanted the game played and was upset when it got called off.

If the people that were involved did not have a problem with it, I do not know how you can tell them they were wrong. This is not an across the board situation. Maybe I missed something from the article, but it did not say when he was declared dead or if the officials knew for sure when they went out on the court (which might be implied but not clear). If the officials did not have a problem with this, not sure any one here from the cheap seats can either.

Peace
