Getting some love from the fans

Had a really good boys match up the other night, packed gym, student sections for both teams and the home team was having a "white out" night so all the kids had on white tee shirts.

Late in the game ball gets loose players for both teams get on the floor going for the ball, slide toward the sideline and home taps it forward to a teammate. No break, no pressure and a big wet spot so I kill it to get game management out there with a towel.

Before I can get them a kid jumps down, takes off his tee shirt and gets down on the floor and starts wiping up the sweat. I point out a spot he missed that was close to my foot so he slides over, gets the spot and then gives my shoes a quick buff.

I'm laughing as I put the ball back in play and the kid that helped started a we love the refs chant...gotta love, getting some love.

I was assigned to the same school multiple times one season. The last time I was there, during a time-out, I said to one of the cheerleaders, "I've been here a lot this year and I hear you cheer for the team, for the other team, even for the other team's cheerleaders; but never the refs." She laughed. ("Ha, ha. This old guy is trying to be funny with me. . .")

Next time-out we heard:

Give. . .those. . .refs a hand!
Let's give those refs a hand!

Talking

Where was the T for taking off his shirt? Or did the police beat you to it for stripping in public?

Kelvin, it would only be Utah they would get the police involved for stripping in public.

I did a team 6 games, two tears ago. The school was 86 miles away. I asked the coach what time the team bus was going to swing by and pick me up for the next one.

I did a team three games in a row once (away, home, and away). His boys stole the tip on my the first game (I was R, the U missed it, and we ended up not calling it.) Got it the next game, though. Unfortunately, the third game ended with a brawl as one of his guys pulled a guy to the floor in the midst of an intentional foul.
