Sad story and loss

I had a double-header (the norm here) before Christmas and the boy's game was the big draw of the night. I don't remember much about the girl's game including the captains. This is a story about one of the captains that night.

Unhappy

How in the world can you charge a person with manslaughter when he puts a gun to someone's head and pulls the trigger? How in the hell is that premeditated murder?

Terrible. It's always worse when you lose a young 'un like that with a great future ahead of her too. That has to be just devastating to her family.

Did you leave the word "not" out of your second sentence? If so, I would absolutely agree with you. Of course, I am not a lawyer (I work for a living).

I agree, with one caveat....if they charge him with 1st degree murder, then the evidence ends up suggesting something less it is hard to go down in the charges without a plea bargain. However if you start at manslaughter it is pretty easy to move the charges up as the evidence comes in.
