Question Rule 8.1.1

I am just checking myself to make sure I am reading this correctly:

The ball is at the disposal of the free thrower once it is bounced or bounced and caught?

Your answer is in the case book. 8.1.1 Sit. A " A1 is awarded 2 free throws. After the players have had SUFFICIENT opportuninty and time to tak etheir positions for the first throw, the admin. official bounces the ball to the free thrower....RULING ....the word "disposal" is interpreted to mean the official shall bounce the ball to the free thrower, but if he/she refuses to accept it, the official may place the ball on the floor @ the free-throw line and then begin the count. This constitutes putting the ball @ the free-thrower's disposal. "

So, I guess the bounce constitutes "at the disposal" and not when its caught and secured or is part of the disposal.

As usual, this kind of question is answered in Rule 4, although in this case, it's hidden in an unusual section. Instead of giving "disposal" its own definition, it's included in Section 4: "Ball Location, At Disposal".

Quote:
Art. 7 A ball is at the disposal of a player when it is:
a. Handed to a thrower or free thrower.
b. Caught by a player after it is bounced to him/her.
c. Placed on the floor at the spot.
d. Available to a player after a goal.
So you can see that it's at the disposal of a player when it is caught, not when it is bounced.

Rules are 8-1-1.

Case plays are 8.1.1.
