How many of you are dinosaurs?

In a thread some time back on another sports forum, one poster referred to those of us who do more than one sport as dinosaurs. After being "challenged" on that point she recanted her description and explained what she meant and there were no hard feelings on anyone's part. But I'm just curious, how many of you are dinoaurs? I'm a three sport dino myself. How about the rest of you?

Hmmm. Without opening a new argumentative slugfest, what was the reasoning for calling multi-sport officials dinos? I'm not offended by the term, just curious how one gets there since its (working more than one sport) by no means out of style.

I work 2 sports, so if that makes me a dino, so be it.

Most successful officials I know are multi-sports officials. Or at one time they worked multiple sports before getting a shot at college or pro ball of some kind.

Peace

Coincidentally, this was also the first year that football and basketball needed officials.

(I do fb and bb as well.)

Ah yes.....peach baskets and leather helmets....I miss 'em so.

And I remember having to walk 10 miles to school each day....always in a blizzard.....up-hill both ways.....

I guess everyone has a different definition of "dinosaurs".

I always thought it meant that you were around for years.

I too do football and basketball. Already started doing football scrimmages..

I don't think that dinosaur refers to a multi-sport official. I officiate H.S. baseball, fastpitch softball, and soccer, all since 1993. But I have been officiating H.S. basketball since 1971 and college basketball since 1974, so that definitely makes me a dinosaur.

Three sports here. My off seasons are last the two weeks of August and the last two weeks of November. Even then, I am attending association meetings for the upcoming sport.

I've done football, softball, and rugby in the past, but for a variety of reasons--length of games, speed of games, complex rules, inclement weather--I stick to just basketball these days. I consider going back to football every summer, but haven't heeded the call since 2000...who knows, maybe next year.

Football and basketball. I start in mid-July and finish in early March. By then, I'm tired of coaches, and yes, they're tired of me.

I have done soccer, baseball, softball, and volleyball, though not at present. I don't think I can name 5 officials that only do one sport.
