I probably have as much fat as your total located in several different places on my body.

Our season begins early September. I will ref very little because my daughter plays, and I'm a father before a ref. Still, I will not be ready ... even with the summer league I'm doing.

My weight problem is a lack of it. Consequently, I lift weights 3x week and do cardio workout 3x a week to keep up stamina. Also work a local pro/am league to keep my basketball eye.

The workouts have helped. I have put on 20 lbs of muscle in 2 yrs and dropped my body fat below 8%.

Great reuslts! I hope you're going "natural".

Aboslutely. Only a fool would put all of that junk in their body. My results are from a good diet and dedication to the gym.

I believe that anyone who is willing to dedicate themself to the diet and exercise can have similar results.

Pre-season fitness

My pre-season fitness routine is that, starting a month before the season, I cut back my intake of nachos to only once per week. :)

The Third Chuck?

I started a new routine this week. I have been practicing my T's in the mirror...

Chuck,
Good routine!
I don't have one.
But there's still time.

I am a referee from the UK. In 13 days we have our National Conference. At 4.00pm on the Saturday you will see a large group of quivering men and me lining up to run the FIBA fitness test. In the UK we have to pass it in order to officiate in the National Basketball League (NBL). Do any of you guys have to do this or is it just our masochistic governing body that makes us do this?

How hard is it?

Sounds different.
I had a PE test in Middle School. 40 years ago.
Sounds like unnecessary muscle flexing on the part of Feeble Leaders. ...Abuse of power.
Good luck with it.

I must admit there are better ways of spending my time. In Europe the 'bleep test' is part of getting your international license. We just accept it as a part of refereeing over here. I don't really think that it effectively tests your game fitness, but I hear a rumour that some bright spark over here has devised a test that represents movement up and down the court in two man mechanics. I dread to think what it is.

Anyway I am off to the gym now as I only have eleven days and 18 hours to go until test time.

katieloo,
Well, if I had to do it in order to officiate Hoops, then I would do it also.
Good luck with it.
Let us know what that is all about, please. ;)
