inbound hand-off

Can somebody point me to a rule that addresses this.. Team A is inbounding the ball after a goal while being pressed by Team B. A-1 has the ball and hands it to A-2 as he sprints by.. I'm guessing this isn't legal but I'm having a "senior moment" and can't find anything in the rulebook.

NFHS rules 9-2-2 or 9-2-4. Gotta pass the ball on a throw-in....

not under fiba rules though, you may hand the ball in to another player (and if not it's not in the book :P)

I know this is to pass the ball inbounds, but must A1 pass the ball to A2 who is also out of bounds?

Since the inbounds was following a goal, A1 has the option of running the endline or passing to A2 who is also out of bounds behind the endline. This "pass" can also be a hand-off as long as A2 has completely established that he/she is out-of-bounds.

Can A1 pass the ball by kicking it to A2 along the endline on a throw-in after a made basket?

Or, what if A2 goes OOB just to avoid a screen and A1 passes the ball to A2?

Geeze, you ask a serious question and the Joker shows up......

Can the thrower legally hit the ball with his fist to a teammate inbounds on a throw-in?

Wow, when did he become a Forum member?

Ok, let's get serious. I know we've had these discussions before, but, at least in my games, it is against the rules to strike the ball with a fist, and it is against the rules to intentionally strike the ball with any part of the leg. So I've got a violation in either case.

I'll check at the Cleveland Public Library for any books on exceptions.

"Book<b><font color = red>s</font></b>"? Plural? More than <b>one</b> book at the Cleveland Public Library? Not completely colored yet either?

Who woulda thunk it?

Gotta admit one thing though.....I've never met anyone before that went to Cleveland <b>deliberately</b>. Hope they find a cure for that soon......the humanity, the humanity:eek:.....

Geeze, somebody from Chicago <b>vacationing</b> in Cleveland? Was Oshkosh full?

9-2-2
The ball shall be passed by the thrower directly into the court from out-of-bound so it touches or is touched by another player (inbounds or out of bounds) on the court before going out of bounds untouched.

4-31
A pass is movement of the ball caused by a player who throws, bats or rolls the ball to another player.

It's too bad there's no definition of "bats" (other than what's in my belfry), but I've always taken it to mean "with an open hand".

I beg to differ......

NFHS rule 4-15-1 defines a "bat" as when a player intentionally strikes the ball with the hand(s).

When looking for definitions, look in <b>"Definitions"</b>.:D
