The Ads

Okay this isn't the superbowl, but there have to be some comments on the ads during March Madness. I'm tired of the same things over and over, but some are still cute. I like the "Stunt City" one. I liked the fan buying insurance, but I'm tired of it now. I don't like the guardian angel Capital One ads. I liked the Vikings better.

Thursday I sat and deleted all the commercials from the first game which I videotaped. The broadcast lasted from 4PM to 6:35PM. I used 2hrs and 2 minutes of tape. That tells you that 33 minutes was commercials.
33/155 x 100% = 21%

That's has to compare to the time devoted to commercials in the Superbowl.

Well, CBS has to pay for that $6 billion deal for 11 years of NCAA Basketball...

That add for Sony HD where they replay the Laettner shot in the '92 Duke-Kentucky game with dolls is hilarious. I vote for that one.

You do realize broadcast TV is a for-profit enterprise, right?

Anywho...30 minute sitcoms have 22 minutes of content.

That's like 27% commercials.

Maybe they need to trim the fat and get rid of a certain announcer.

That's why I don't watch sitcoms.

It's why I hardly watch anything that hasn't been Tivo'd anymore.
Commercials are far less annoying in fast forward (it takes about 5 seconds to go through a typical commercial break), and I can watch an hour show in about 45 minutes.
