Unhappy

I know that you can jump from front court and gain control of a pass and land in the back court during a throw in and not be over and back. But I am brain cramping on a rules reference.

Thanks in advance

from the NCAA rulebook

Rule 4 Section 44. Location of a Player
Art. 2. When a player is in the air from a leap (except during a throw-in) or
when a defensive player intercepts a ball while in the air, the playerÂ’s status
with reference to these two situations shall be the same as at the time
the player was last in contact with the floor or an extension of the floor,
such as a bleacher.

Lucky, I'm assuming that you do not have the Rules Book handy. Jurasick has pointed you in the right direction. They key is no team possession exists.

Rule 9-9-3....A player from the team not in control (defensive player or during a jump ball for throw in) may legally jump from his/her frontcourt, secure control of the ball with both feet off the floor and return to the floor with one or both feet in the backcourt. The player may make a normal landing and it makes no difference whether the first foot down is in the frontcourt or backcourt.
