I know for timeouts there is an imaginary trapizoid like area where if a T.O. is granted in this area the inbounds takes place under the basket. Does this same area apply to violations and fouls? Or is it the actual spot? And if the trapizoid area is not used, what is used to determine the spot if the ref can't decern between closer to the sideline or baseline?

Thanks

The same "area" is used to determine all "spot" throw-ins (except those for Technical fouls).
