Go to CNN.com and view the video about the autistic hoopster. Nice story!

Saw it in ESPN News last night. The kid was knocking down threes like he was JJ Redick!

didn't see it

but I did get to see another cool story in person last week. The season is winding down, small school semi rivalry game seeding for the regional tournament the next weekend could be affected. Senior night for the host school. The school has a special kid that suits up for them both in basketball and football. I work quite a few of their games and have never seen the kid on the floor except for the last minute of a couple blowout games. He is a senior, so the coaches show some sack, and let the kid start the final home game. They win the tip, and pass the ball to Ross out on the wing.....he lets it fly from beyond the arc and yep you guessed it, nothing but net....it was really really cool to see it happen, and couldn't have been scripted any better..

Great story. Sometimes sports can do wonders.

If anyone doesn't want to search too much for it, here's a direct link to it: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/...n1339324.shtml

I saw it on SportsCenter. Incredible.

My favorite part of this was the reaction of the kids in the stands and of his teammates. Seemed like a special school and a special bunch of kids all around.

There was a football game here in Texas where both teams allowed the team manager to run a 99 yd touchdown, but it didn't count in the real stats. What I like about this one is that THIS KID COULD SHOOT and it counted.

Every year, there's a "both teams allowed" disgrace story. All that does is cheapen the sport.

Thumbs up Nice memory for the kids

One of our national sports channels carried the story.

The kid can shot. The fans, etc were cheering like crazy. They'll talk about it for awhile!

They carried him off on their shoulders!

Have to disagree with that.

I saw the football story and it was one of the classiest moments in HS sports that I have ever heard about.

What it meant to that disabled kid transcended sports. His mom was in tears, his teammates were thrilled, and the opposing coach was the one who insisted that his team give up their shutout and that kid score a touchdown.

Our worth as human beings was elevated that day.

I can agree, if this was, as mentioned, a play that didn't count, just to give the kid a high. The kind I disagree with is the padding-the-stats plays to give someone a record they don't deserve.

If you notice, this kid had a hand in his face for many of those shots. He just drilled them.

The kids in the stands standing with the smiles on their faces -- wow. Those kids will remember that game forever, as will the boy's family. The one who doesn't seem to think it's a huge deal is the kid. Now back on the bench as the manager for the playoffs, he just wants to see his team win.
