I did a camp over the weekend and had two of the worst (uneducated) fan comments I've ever heard.

The first was in a boys varsity game. Mr. Aintgottaclue was chirping from the stands about guys staying in the lane for three seconds. Gee, haven't heard that before. Well, to show how silly he was, on one particular play, this was his comment. "Three seconds! Three seconds! #54 is in the perimeter for three seconds!" I guess his ideal game would be played from half court.

The second comment, and the better of the two, was in a girls game last night. The center for the home team comes driving down the court. As she attempts to stop and shoot a 5 footer, she takes about four small steps. Her coordination was lacking a bit. I waved the shot and called a travel. As I'm administering the ball for the throw-in, Joe Dad says "Haven't you ever heard of a jump stop?"

These two moments were the highlight of my weekend.

I work a few, very few summer league games but I had a keeper last night.

JV level girls, Ball bounces off a girls head (let's call her A1 for argument sake) through the bottom of the rim (don't ask how or why).

I call a violation and we head up court.

The other coach, (let's call him Coach B) asks me (I'm new trail) why his team didn't get two points.

All I had to say was "Why me?"

This reminds me of one of the best Davisms of them all. I was doing a game with Dave (yes, the real one). A1 was at the top of the key and whipped a pass toward A2 who was cutting low across the lane. Unfortunately, B1 stepped into the lane at that moment with his back to the pass. The ball hit him in the back of the head, went up, hit the backboard and went in the basket.

B1 was knocked down, so we called a timeout for injury. I asked Dave what he thought of what just happened.

His reply: "I bet the next guy is gonna have H-O-R-S".
