Been reading the other thread and had a couple things i need some feedback on.

1. Player A sets a screen behind Player B, I have noticed most of the time
Player B starts turning and stops when they "feel" the other player there. My thinking is that there needs to be contact, along the lines of displacement and not just touching/rubbing. Is my thinking headed in the right direction ?

2. Player A sets screen , Player B running through key, at last second Player
A moves slightly into Player B,usually minimal contact but contact nonetheless. Should I be looking at this minimal contact as a foul or is this need to be let go unless it is substantional ?

Been working on off-ball the last several weeks and these seem to be the two most occurring SITCH.

1. If contact is made by the screener, its illegal. In this case the person that is getting screen has to be able to see the screen in order to avoid the screen.

2. If Player B causes contact, the screen is illegal.

Both of these are good examples of advantage disadvantage. In both, if the contact is minimal and the defensive players are able to play through it, don't blow your whistle.

Talking Just dripping in.........

Where do the rules say that? You know we have to look at the rules as a black and white document and not make a judgment. We must remember our job as an official is not to make judgments.

Peace

In #1 we need more info, did they allow B 1 step or not? If they did the screen is legal regardless of contact. If not, it's a foul if there is contact and it's enough that B needs to "fight" to get around it or if the screener was doing any moving or leaning into B.

#2 is a foul. That chipping screen usually escalates, so get it early to clean up play.

I recommend calling both and setting the standard for the game.

no title

#1 i am talking about no step allowed. I seem to have been calling that right.

#2 , I like the term chipping screen. I have been calling it okay. I need to rethink it. I have let it go early and then have to tighten it up later. So...for some reason I have been treating screens different then other fouls in my head. The last few weeks I have started seeing the screens in slow motion so I am seeing more of what is happening there.
