Tonight, high school varsity game, Fed rules, there is no official scorer at the table until the 30-second mark. There's an official score book, with the home team's players, and the visiting scorer is there, with the visiting team's players in that book. When I inquired of the site manager - in this case the AD - he said 'Don't worry about it, we'll find someone.'

Off the top of my head, I couldn't for the life of me dredge up whether or not I could - and I was so inclined - t-up the home team, so I didn't, never liking to be on shakey grounds. I mean, the info was at the table, sorta.

What say you?

Um, no. Don't "T" up the home team. Just hold the game up for a coupla minutes until they find a scorer and get the names entered in the book. No problem as long as the home team had their roster there at the 10-minute mark. It ain't the NBA. Iow, no biggie.

I know you already know this. Rule 2-11 does not specify time when the official scorer must be present. The score book is prepared and ready to go when you check it. IMO, you were right with not giving the "T"

I thought about that . . . but . . .

1. I asked the visiting coach if their scorekeeper was experienced. She said no.

2. I didn't want to do it and then take it back if the home scorer showed up . . .

But, it coulda happened!

You wouldn't have to do this. Once you appoint the visitor as official, it's official. No need to change. If home doesn't like it, they can do it differently next time.
