Varsity game with experienced 2 man crew. Lead calls a blatant intentional foul on blk 1 for pushing white 1 in the back on a breakaway lay-up and then after the play, black 1 shoves white 1. Trail calls a T on black 1 and ejects him.

Fouls are administered in order with white 1 shooting 2 shots for the intentional and white 2 shooting 2 for the T. The crew then proceeded to give the ball to white on the baseline where the intentional foul was called. I was sitting with an evaluator and stated the ball should be in-bounded at center court, based on the T. He at first disagreed with me, but wanted to be sure and he looked in the rule book after the game. We spoke with the game officials and one felt it should be at the center stripe while the other referenced POI.

I'm pretty certain the ball should be in-bounded at center court. As far as a rule citing, I referenced the basketball rules fundamentals (#12) which states penalties for fouls are administered in the order in which they occur. Is there another reference in the rule book/case book that deals with this issue?

thanks

Since the first foul was an intentional PERSONAL foul and the second was a flagrant (you said the player was DQ'd) TECHNICAL foul, these two fouls cannot make up a double personal foul or a double technical foul.
They also don't meet the definition of a simultaneous foul.

Therefore, it would be incorrect to use the POI rule.

This is a false multiple foul and as you said the fouls are penalized in the order in which they occurred with each foul carrying its own penalty. The final part of the T is the awarding of the ball at the division line opposite the table to the offended team.

You got this one right.

I edited this because I misread the original post.
I thought White #1 committed the T for the second shove. Sorry.

BTW the new 4.19.9 Sit C is almost your exact play.

The ball goes to the division line.

Are you sure? Both fouls were committed by B1. Can that be a false double?

You're right, Chuck. I misread the original post. I was thinking that the kid who made the basket was upset about being intentionally fouled and turned around and shoved his opponent in return.

I've edited my first post.

It would be the very rare "false multiple foul"- usually found only in the wilds of Nevada. They're handled exactly the same as a "false double foul"- just penalize 'em in the order they occur.

Here's what we really want to know: did the T make this call from 70 feet away?

Yep, he knocked two players over as he busted @ss down the court to make that call.

It's true, it's true...
