When try to size up my Table early. You get a feel. Is it a student? Is there a Cell Phone laying there? Do they look at the book with massive confusion? I try to chat with them and find out. I do ask that they not cheer or show team favorites while at the table. I ask they keep eye contact with us and signal if they need anything. Once you start coaching them, their questions usually come.

Lower Levels
Because I work the lower levels .frosh/JV , I start up a conversation about the table in order to get a feel for how much experience they have. Then I know how much babysitting is going to be needed.

Make good eye contact with us when we report. Otherwise, we'll stare at you until you look up.
Make sure the book matches the board (score & team fouls). Give us a reminder when we're in the bonus. Help us out with subs. Keep them here until we wave them in. Help them find the "X". Timer: Watch us to start & stop the clock. 2 horns on all timeouts and a horn for subs. If you have any problems, fix them. If you can't figure it out, call us over and we'll get it taken care of. Takes about 30-45 seconds.
