Just saw the highlights on SportsCenter. The showed the entire sequence of the last 10 seconds.
Maryland was ahead 73-68 as BC brought the ball into the frontcourt and attempted a 3 point try. That try was successful with 2.2 seconds remaining. In NCAA play the clock stops on made goals in the final minute, so the clock stopped at this point. (Perhaps MD or BC took a time-out here prior to any subsequent throw-in being made. That is not clear on ESPN.) When the game resumed MD had an end line throw-in with the same 2.2 seconds on the clock. They tried to make a bounce pass, but it went across the court UNTOUCHED and OOB on the sideline. Therefore, the clock never started during this throw-in play. Now BC had the ball for a throw-in from the location where the MD tried the previous one. They tried to pass the ball to a player in the frontcourt, but he missed it and it rolled all the way into the backcourt near the opposite end line where it was collected by a MD player who dribbled out the remaining time.
Everything was handled correctly at the end of this contest.
Had that final BC throw-in made it OOB without anyone touching it, MD would have had another throw-in from that same spot. It also would have been the first time that I would have seen two consecutive throw-ins from the same place go OOB untouched!
