when a player dribbling the ball slides their hand under the basketball while dribbling, most officials will signal an over and back hand gesture and call it "carrying." another official told me there is no such thing as a carry, but actually it is a traveling call, since the player is technically stopping their dribble while they continue to run down court. it looks stupid to call travel since the player is dribbling even though technically they are stopping momentum of the basketball. should i signal travel, or continue with the carried signal? hope you guys understand what i am talking about, and tell me what you think.
