First game last night. JV/Varsity double-header. Good to be back.

Question: ball goes flying oob and lands a long way down from where it crossed the oob line. Where do you inbound the ball. Near where it landed or back near where it crossed the line?

I went with near where it crossed the line.

When does the ball become dead out of bounds? The spot where it hits out of bounds, where it touches a player out of bounds, any other person, the floor, or any object on or outside a boundary, the supports or back of the backboard, the ceiling, overhead equipment or supports. Inbound where it landed.

...unless, of course, this happened during a throw-in, with the ball never touching anyone inbounds.

OK, I'm in a smart-a** mood this morning.

I've been out smart-a**ed! (Or, since I'm not that smart, maybe I've been out dumb-a**ed?)
