I did not work the game (thank you to the basketball god)...9th grade boys rec game last Saturday.
One young man played most of the first first half and was having a decent game (15 points, several assist and rebounds). His team stands to take the floor...but he looks at his coach then collapses. Paramedics work on him and take him to the hospital where he is pronounced (massive heart attack at 15). My wife works with his mother...family is having a VERY hard time. If you can find it in you, please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

I've been that referee on the floor. Happened to me in a 7th Grade mdiddle school game almost 2 years ago. Keep his teammates, coaches, and even the referees in your prayers as well. I had a hard time dealing the loss of the player in my game. Because it happened in my game, on my court, and there wasn't anything I could have done. And for some reason, that game has never really felt complete too me. But as time went on, and I did more and more games, the less i thought about it, and the more comfortable I became on the court again. Truly a tragic event. I will be rembering all involved in that incident in my prayers.
