Talking

I posted this on the soccer forum, but they don't talk nearly as much as we do, so here it is again. All Summer, since I ended Spring/Summer league soccer I've been walking 2.5 - 3 miles four or five days a week at the local track. Also been hitting the fitness center at the local JC to lift fairly regularly. Haven't had a sweet of any kind in over 2 1/2 months & I've lost somewhere between 16 - 20 lbs. A few days ago I worked a friendly scrimmage between 2 HS age teams. Had two 18 yr old recent HS grads working as ARs. Hot humid night. We did 3 30 minute periods. After the first period the 2 HS kids were complaining about quads and ankles and were out of breath. After 2nd period they were really tired and sucking wind. A B'ball ref friend walked across the field during the second break and asked them, "Why do you have the old man running the centers." I loved their reply. "'Cause he can!" Slow and steady workouts do pay off. And I did the game with no pain from the plantar faciitis! Score one for us "old guys!"

TOO HOT to do that in Columbus, GA at this time of year. But I do plan on doing just that in September. Right now am learning as much as i can about volleyball rules as I will be officiating for 1st time.
