I was checking out the following website (BOSS Officials http://www.sdboss.com) after reading the thread about the assualt case. Anyways, I saw where they issue a navy (pre-game) jacket.
The manual states you can wear either navy or black, but you have to match. I would guess black is the preferred color for a pre-game jacket -- as it is in my area. Does anyone own a navy pre-game jacket and have you ever used it? |
When I first started the color of jacket that my association used was Navy. So I used a navy colored jacket for about 3 years. The IHSA then wanted every official to use Black.

Speaking of fashion, my wife has standing orders: if she ever sees me wearing plaid shorts, black ankle socks and wingtips to shoot me on the spot. |

The Oklahoma OSSAA required a Navy jacket until two years ago when they switched to black.
|
TSSAA had blue jackets when I lived in Tennessee.
The NCHSAA used blue jackets up until about 4 years ago. The present jacket, which is the Sahara jacket that the CCA uses is the $hittiest clothing item I have ever owned. It costs me $45 but probably costs $3 to manufacture. It's a piece of crap. |

There is one association in Illinois that wears white while the state prefers black. All the "big guns" in the Chicago area are in that association.
Please - no flaming the "big guns" phrase. |

We wear black CCA jackets in our Greater Georgia association. But I also own black with NCHSAA emblem when I called in NC that is just sitting in my closet and a blue jacket that I used before they went to black about 5 years ago. No white jackets. Hope I don't have to move again and it turns out to be that Illinois association.

BTW, CCA jackets are not allowed. Most officials that have been around for any length of time wear a jacket with the IHSA logo on it. You can buy those jackets through Honigs and some other licensed dealer that can sell the official IHSA logo. Peace |
White jackets?
Is this some kind of reffing mafia? Or am I going to be killed just for inquiring? |

BTW, it's black if anyone's wondering :p |
We wear black zippered jackets with the TASO logo embroidered on them.

My jacket is gold with silver sparkles. All of us in the LBRA wear one.
FYI - that's the Liberace Basketball Referees Assn. |

Not that there's anything wrong with that. |

Texas wore navy jackets from before when I started (late '80s) until sometime around the mid-90s or later. In college, we wore the blue CCA jacket until I stopped working (mid '90s).
I think both are black now. Interestingly, the old Southwest Conference had their officials wear this grey shirt with a zipper but no collar (when basketball still had collars) for a couple of years in the very early '90s. They still wore the blue CCA jacket, and that total package never looked quite right. |
