Yes you do move to get the proper angle. Which way depends and that is something you'll just have to get a feel for. For me, it's usually easier to just take a step or two back and towards the center of the court to get the angle, but as Blindzebra pointed out, when it is out at the DL, it's easier to step down. By going back and onto the court, you get an inside-out look and it usually requires fewer steps. The problem I have with moving onto the court is that when there is a steal, Occassionally I can get caught in the middle. When that happens, I just homd my ground, spin, and then trail the play the other way.

We don't. The guy that runs the IM program teaches not to rotate for simplicity. This year I'm going to try and talk him into doing the rotations since the coverage is so much better.

Eek.

What's the point of 3-person mechanics then?

Thanks all for the good advice. I recall getting a little nervous getting nearer to the center of the court for that reason...being in the way. Just a matter of experience and feel I guess.

Just remember for every step you take out on the floor, take at least one step toward the other end of the floor.

If the play is on the other side of the center circle, from your side line, you will find yourself in the backcourt at times.

There isn't much of a point to it. Recently we've gone away from it because there aren't enough people to fill the spots anyways.
