R vs U

Unless I've missed something (always possible), being the U instead of the R is meaningless for this situation. R can't overrule your calls. He can correct a score, or rule on a play not covered by the rules, but that's not what you described here.

Which, in this case, means exactly nothing. There are a very few duties that are assigned soley to the R. Other than that, he's just one of the team. Period. His opinions and calls carry no more weight than the U, U1, U2 or U99. Once that ball goes up, you are equals.

Perhaps a better way of looking at it is that there are no lesser partners. As the U you are fully expected to step up and run the game alongside your partner(s). To do anything less is to shirk your duty and put an extra burden on your partner(s). Don't ever let the fact that you're the U persuade you to take a junior role.

Well yes I know that's what is written in the rules, still, for me as a youth ref it's hard to step up to people 20 years older saying that I don't like them interfering with my calls (wich I don't), still, it's tricky for me- but I suppose that changes when you get older
