Of course they can be. Coaches act that way regardless of who we are. There are just times when coaches think someone is younger and they coach will not "trust" what you say over an older person that is an official.

Is A1's saving the ball necessarily considered regaining the TC, in the following scenarios?

a. A1 batted the ball back.
b. A1 caught the ball with two hands and threw it back.
c. A1 touched the ball with one hand, and swung the ball back.

This is not correct, as I think you know. If there is no TC, then there is no backcourt violation, even if a member of Team A touches the ball first.
