Graduation issue......how about these facts: (You can rip on em for other reasons but on Grad rate is bogus)

Fact: 24 players who have completed their eligibility during Bob Huggins coaching tenure have graduated....

Fact: 8 of the last 13 seniors to complete their eligibility under Huggins have earned their degree.

Fact: Six years ago UC instituted the Recall Program, which encourages all student-athletes who leave to play professionally and did not complete their degree, to return to UC and finish, with assistance provided by UC.

Fact: UC had a graduation rate of 100-percent in the 2002 NCAA Division 1 grad rates.

Fact: During the 2001-02 academic year, UC men’s basketball won the CUSA Sports Academic Award for the league’s best GPA.

Fact: Leonard Stokes not only earned his degree, he earned it before taking the court for his senior season in 2002-03.

I'm sure I saw an ESPN report that claimed Huggins' grad rate was 0%. Not a single graduation in like 10 years or whatever. Are your graduation stats more recent, or am I thinking of the wrong program? :confused:

I surfed. That 0% only referred to a specific coupla years. His overall graduation rate doesn't seem to be that bad. Of course, you do have to factor in that some of his people graduated with majors like Underwater Polevaulting. :D

How come the Cincy prez wants Huggy gone so bad? She's trying to get rid of him. What's the scoop?

Agree. I googled it. Huggin's overall graduation rate certainly is a helluva better than a lot of schools.

Only 24 players in 15 years? Isn't that kinda low?

How many times has he been to the Final Four since he's been there? I thinking it's exactly the same as the number of times he's been in rehab.

The problem with the graduation rates only include players that started at a school and got their degree. I do not know about this list, but it does not include transfers or players that do not graduate within the 5 year time frame (accounting for red shirts years I believe). Huggins like a lot of university basketball programs get transfers. So a player like Will Bynum out of Chicago went to Arizona and played his freshman year. Bynum later transferred to Georgia Tech and is on schedule to graduate. Now if and when Bynum does graduate it will not count toward either Arizona's or Georgia Tech's graduation rates.

Until the NCAA considers graduation rates of players that in different ways graduation rates are going to be a problem for many schools with the NCAA. Most of the schools in this country have graduation rates higher with their sports teams than the regular student population.
