A shot is taken from the lane, the ball hits the rim and bounces over the backboard and is caught near the endline behind the goal. Is there a violation when the ball goes over the backboard even if it does'nt touch anything??? Is the ball considered out of bounds???

Thanks

Fan Shaped, ball in play if it didn't touch anything.
Just wondering how many of you run into fan shaped backboards these days?? Around here there are none.

We have one gym with fan-shaped backboards at a small B school called Darrington at the Northernmost edge of our local association's territory. It's a gym right out of Hoosiers.

I'm short enough that I usually pass right underneath without running into the backboard.
