Exactly. Which is why I wrote, "That is not necessarily true in the NCAA." Some assignors do have different requirements.

This is not true for men's games, I don't think. I've never heard that it's allowable. The women "walk-and-talk", NBA style; but not the guys.

There are, of course, officials who are well-enough established that they don't have to worry about any of their mechanics; and so they may report on the move. But, by the book, I don't think this is an option for most of us lowly D3 guys.

Thanks Chuck,

I just wanted to make sure it was not some type of change I wasn't privileged to...I spend most of the time watching games, watching officials, in an effort to get better. I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge and experience.

For those of you wondering who tossed for last Monday's game, checkout the "Leading Off" section of this week's Sports Illustrated (on the bottom right of the right page). It looks like it was Harris.

Chuck's right. However they still want the women's officials to get close enough to the table so they can hear before they start.(while still walking) Men's mechanic is to clear the players and stop to report, not necessarily in any box.

That's correct. I posted a couple of pages ago that it was Corbett, but the SI picture proves me wrong. I can't hide my lyin' eyes!!!
