Miss. State and Duke. Early on, a Duke player swings his elbows after getting a rebound and knocks an MS player to the ground. Packer says it should not have been a foul because there was "no malicious intent".
OK, everybody. Let's change the saying "No harm, no foul" to "No malicious intent, no foul". As Bugs Bunny would say, "What a maroon"!

The best part was that while there was little contact, there was absolutely intent.
He poked him with the elbow and pushed him off and then swung it past him and then swung it back toward his head. He hit the defender's arm as the defender smartly fell back. |

Sportsnet Ontario
Sportsnet is one of 3 national sports networks here in the GWN.
Jack Armstrong is a popular sports guy - primarily basketball. Let's just say that he knows his stuff. Sportsnet Ontario is carrying the CBS feed, but is also switching between games at timeouts, etc... it's great. Anyways, about 2 minutes ago, he says, "Will someone please shut Packer up." Classic. Edit: fixed spelling. [Edited by JugglingReferee on Mar 20th, 2005 at 07:51 PM]

I am learning many new rules by listening to the play by play. Found out today that when a player is posted up with back to the basket, the defender must allow the post player room to turn around and get off the shot. This was the explanation of the announcer why turning around and knocking the defender back is not an offensive foul. I will have to remember that for next season.
