Question

On a 20 second timeout, the starters are to remain standing(not allowed to sit on the bench). My question is - do the bench personnel have to remain on the bench or can they join the starters in a huddle on the court provided they sit after the first(10 second warning) horn?

Not only can they stand but only have to sit after the second horn. Some officials think the huddle must be breaking up at the first horn, but the rule book says a time out is 60 seconds or 20 seconds, not 45 and 10. The hudsle should break up after the time out has ended, second horn. Remember officials are ready to put the ball in play and one official has the ball in hand and at the spot of throw in. Give the teams and coach a chance to use their full time out, that probably need it. Later. Jerry

They're all allowed to stand.
