Did they change the rule last year? I can't find this year's rule book, but in my 2003-3004 book, on page 67, summary of penalties for all fouls, #6.

Multiple foul:

Two free throws for each foul:
Unsuccessful three-point try or tap.

2+2=4, right?

Thanks, TriggerMN,
It was me that would have had trouble finding that rule without your help.
I am in your debt.
Thanks.

Mick--> No prob. And if I ever hear of you actually CALLING this, I will personally faint. :)

Thanks guys for all your inputs. I just ran across this website as I was looking for something to confirm that my interpretation of the rule was correct. Although it won't change the outcome of the game, at least I can sleep tonight ;-)

Thanks again.

Well Welcome to the board, coachk,
We've got a few coaches around here already.
Don't be a stranger.

Dumb me!
Over a dozen years ago I called a multiple foul on a kid shooting a three and gave him 4 shots.
I thought I had kicked the call by giving him 4 shots.
Maybe I did, maybe I didn't.
I don't remember ever reading that before.
That is simply inexcusable.
...But I'm smarter that I was.

I'll let you know where my next game is. I'll make the call. Send me an email and I'll let you know where to send the check. :)

ART. 4 . . . A flagrant foul may be a personal or technical foul of a violent or savage nature, or a technical noncontact foul which displays unacceptable conduct. It may or may not be intentional. If personal, it involves, but is not limited to violent contact such as: striking, kicking and kneeing. If technical, it involves dead-ball contact or noncontact at any time which is extreme or persistent, vulgar or abusive conduct. Fighting is a flagrant act.

PENALTY: (All Articles) Two free throws plus ball for division-line throw-in.

NOTE: A single flagrant technical foul or the second technical foul charged to a player results in disqualification of the offender to the team bench.

So two shots for the opposing team and an ejection on the person who commited the flagrant. I had this happen two weeks ago.
