Similar sitch to a previous post. Foul at the horn to end half. Non-shooting, no bonus. As official moves to report, frustrated A1 slams ball to the ground. A1 immediately assesed T.
Does the fact that the official handn't reported the foul that ended the half mean that the shots for the T must be shot immediately as part of the 2Q? Reporting of the foul is activity related to 2q, which hadn't been done. Thanks |

Thanks for the reply. Seems straight forward and I'm probably splitting hairs however.
NFHS 5-6-3....If a foul occurs: a. So near the expiration of time that the timer cannot get the clock stopped before time expires. b. After time expires, but while the ball is in flight during a try or tap for field goal.. The quarter or extra period ends when the free throw(s) and all related activity have been completed. Yes the 2Q had ended, but all activity related to it ( the reporting of the foul) had not been done. There are no free throws associated with the foul, but 5-6-3 says ...If a foul occurs. It doesn't say it has to be a shooting foul. Thanks Mike |

I think "related activity" has to do with stuff players do - such as FTs. Reporting a foul is not "related activity". As Bob said, the QTR ended and the T will be part of the next quarter.
